Is there anyone out there?

Once upon a time I had a web site, upon which I displayed well over one million words that I'd cobbled together. Thousands visited the site, but few responded.

That's the great joy of the Net. We are all satisfied by this new democracy. Once we can set aside Mammon, and ignore religious zealots, both of which are impossible ideals, we have the chance to make real choices.

Would you choose to live here? You have the choice. That's a privilege open to all those who have the technology to read Blogs.

If we can get rid of the two snakes: one red, one white, that encircle the earth all day and all night, then the pollution that helped create that sunset will disappear, and you will no longer want to live there.

That's democracy.

Certainly someone is out there. That's one of the world's many major problems: too many people out there causing those snakes, coral and albino, of which you despair.
The only other major problem of civilization is liars: a worse sin than murder because it is the enabler of those who break the other nine commandments. A religious zealot? Hardly. Just one noting the obsession with psychology has given way to the obsession with Sociology. I have a grandson in Germany at the World Cup, your World Cup. Afterwards he is to go to Africa. I don't know if I should worry more about the civilized World Cup riots or the mayhem of Africa.

Dear Anonymous,

you are right, "one of the world's many major problems" is "too many people" are out there causing several sorts of stuff meant to bring others to despair, when in fact, me and you (and Trevor Lockwood) would be enough inhabitants of the world. Wait, we could even miss Trevor, I hear he is sometimes too cranky...
As to the "major problem of civilization", which you spotted as being the "liars", I suggest we all unpack the armour and start soon a fight against The Liars, like St. George fought The Dragon - not too soon, of course, but some when after the World Cup...(please someone organise plenty of free beer after the fight...or, preferably before,if you want us to win...). Could you be more specific about which liars exactly you think we should start with?

Don't get the 'noids. Wasn't picking at you as a liar. Don't know you well enough to make that judgement. Just that from the contradictions in the press and in the government about 50% seem to find it a worthy passtime. Which is another reason we can't sort through the world's real problems. Everyone muddies the water with lies. And the first cousin of lies, justification rather than reason.
Prefer Don Q to St. G. as an attacker. But then prefer windmills to dragons.
